Croeso i Ysgol Gymraeg Pontardawe
Annwyl Riant/Gwarchodwyr, Hoffwn estyn croeso cynnes iawn i chi ar ran staff a llywodraethwyr yr ysgol. Mae hon yn ysgol a thraddodiad ac enw da, ac yr ydym ninnau fel staff a llywodraethwyr presennol yr ysgol yn ceisio ein gorau i barhau’r traddodiad hwnnw. Yn y llyfryn hwn ceir gwybodaeth am yr ysgol – ein gweledigaeth, ein nod a’n hamcanion cyffredinol a gwybodaeth am y cwricwlwm, trefniadaeth yr ysgol a materion eraill perthnasol. Drws agored sydd yn Ysgol Pontardawe a gobeithiwn y byddwch fel rhieni a gwarcheidwaid yn manteisio ar y cyfle i ddod i’n hadnabod fel staff, i ymddiried ynom ac i ddangos diddordeb byw yn addysg eich plant ac yng ngweithgareddau’r ysgol. Mae partneriaeth gref rhwng y cartref a’r ysgol yn rhan annatod o lwyddiant Ysgol Pontardawe.
Yn ddidwyll, Mrs M.W Rees (Pennaeth) Cyfundrefn Yr Ysgol: Mae'r ysgol yn darparu addysg ddwyieithog i bwy bynnag sy'n ei dymuno ac nid oes rhaid i rieni siarad Cymraeg er bod mantais amlwg i'r plentyn os ydyw'r rhieni yn barod hefyd i ddysgu'r iaith. Trefnir dosbarthiadau o alluoedd cymysg ac, ar adegau, o oedrannau cymysg. Ni cheir mwy na dwy flynedd o wahaniaeth oed mewn unrhyw ddosbarth. Derbynnir plant i'r Uned Feithrin cyn gynted ag sy'n bosibl wedi cyrraedd tair oed. Ar hyn o bryd y mae un pennaeth, sy' heb gyfrifoldeb dosbarth, yn yr ysgol, un Dirprwy Bennaeth, un ar ddeg o athrawon dysgu llawn amser. Mae dwy weinyddes feithrin llawn amser, dwy cynorthwywraig dosbarth, un ysgrifenyddes llawn amser ac un clerc rhan amser yn gweithio yn yr ysgol. Mae Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe yn ysgol dda lle rhoddir parch arbennig i'r holl ddisgyblion a lle cant brofiadau uniongyrchol sy'n cyfoethogi eu dysgu ac yn arwain at safonau da.

Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe aims to provide, in partnership with parents, a quality bilingual education so that pupils of all abilities are able to reach their full potential within a stimulating, caring and secure environment.
Welcome to Ysgol Gymraeg Pontardawe Dear Parents/Carers On behalf of the school’s staff and Governing Body, I would like to welcome you to our school. This school has a sound reputation and a tradition of excellence, and we, as the current staff and governors seek to continue upon this tradition. In this prospectus you will receive information about our school – our vision, our general aims and objectives, the curriculum and organisation of the school. At Ysgol Gymraeg Pontardawe we have an open door policy, and we trust that you, as parents / guardians, will use this opportunity of getting to know us as staff members, to trust us and to show an active interest in your child’s education and in the activities provided by the school. School Organisation:
The school provides a bilingual education for all who desire it and it is not necessary for parents to be Welsh speaking although there is an obvious advantage to the child if parents are also prepared to make some effort to learn the language. Children are admitted to the Nursery as soon as possible after reaching the age of three. Pupils are organised into classes of mixed ability and in some cases mixed year groups. The maximum age span in each class is two years. Currently the teaching staff consists of a non-teaching head teacher, a deputy head teacher, eleven full time teachers. The school also employs two full time Nursery Assistants, two Learning Support/Classroom Assistants, one full-time school administration clerk and a part-time clerk. Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe is a good school where all pupils are afforded great respect and receive first hand experiences which enrich their learning and result in good standards.
